Please be sure to read these instructions prior to departing for Bangladesh. If you're consulting your phone's user guide, please defer to the instructions below with regard to the use of your Bangladesh SIM card. (Phone manuals are written in general terms.)

Requirements:
A GSM cellular phone with no service-provider lock. If you are unsure whether your phone is locked or not, test it with a SIM card from a service provider other than your own. The phone must be capable of functioning in the 900 and 1800 MHz GSM bands. (More bands are ok.)

Your Bangladesh SIM Card Cell Phone Number:
Your cellular phone number for Bangladesh is displayed on the back of the SIM card package above the bar codes. The 10-digit phone number begins with "0".

Dialing information The "0" at the beginning of your 10-digit phone number is dropped when calling it from the US or any other foreign country. (It is used when someone calls it from within Bangladesh.) In order to call to your Bangladesh cell phone number from the USA, the correct sequence is 011-880, then the Bangladesh cell phone number including the area code (ex. 011-880-175 601 860). Please be sure to inform anyone who has your Bangladesh cell phone number as to the proper dialing sequence in order to ensure you receive your calls.

To call the U.S., dial 00 then 1 (U.S. country code) + the area code and phone number.

Important: Most US toll free numbers are not accessable from overseas. Be sure to get valid international numbers prior to your departure.

  • A Bangladesh pre-paid SIM card and cell phone number-you'll have the number before you depart
  • Complete with 20 minutes starter credit
  • Unlimited FREE incoming calls from anywhere
  • Domestic rates as low as $0.18 cents per minute
  • Calls back to the US and Canada only $0.88 cents per minute.
  • Add more call credits as needed by purchasing easily-obtainable recharge voucher cards in various denominations
  • Voicemail
  • SMS text messaging
  • No yearly contract, monthly charges, daily minimum charges, minimum minutes per call charges or credit checks

Preparing Your Phone for use overseas:
While you won't be able to use your SIM card until you get to Bangladesh, there are a few things you can do to test your equipment and prep your phone.

  • Test that your phone charger works well with your phone and make sure your phone's battery can take and hold a charge. (All Cellular Abroad phones come with variable-voltage chargers.)
  • If you are supplying your own phone, make sure you have the phone menus specifically set to use English (as opposed to the "automatic" setting.) Consult your phone manual if you don't know where the language setting is.
  • Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You'll usually find your phone's SIM card slot underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone. Consult your phone manual if unsure of the proper installation procedure.)
  • Turn on your phone
  • Enter the PIN1 number indicated on the envelope to have access to the phone menus. Note: It is a VERY good idea to diable the PIN-check feature on your SIM card. If unsure, consult your phone's user guide under "security", "PIN", or "SIM".
  • Familiarize yourself with the phone menus. You can add phone numbers to your address book. Be sure to enter complete international phone numbers when dialing to another country.
